2026 Rebate Highlights: Most whole-home projects qualify for $5,000 to $8,000 in direct rebates. Reabates cover up to 50% of the work.

$8,000 Max Rebate: For homeowners who switch entirely to electric heating and remove their old oil or propane tanks.

Home Energy Assessments
Home Performance with Energy Star can help you lower your energy bills and make your home safer and more comfortable!
With a priority on health and safety, Kool-Temp Heating & Cooling Inc. performs a Comprehensive Home Assessment. We use the latest in technology to look at the performance of your home with respect to health, safety, and energy efficiency.
During your comprehensive home assessment we check the following:
- Health and safety (Carbon Monoxide/Mold/Moisture Problems)
- Air infiltration rates using the blower door and thermal imaging camera
- Insulation levels
- Domestic hot water system spillage tests
- Heating system efficiency, Draft test, Smoke test, and Carbon Monoxide
- Cooling system efficiency
- Distribution system (ductwork)
- Lighting
- Major appliances
We use a number of diagnostic tools during the home assessment.
Some of the tools that we use are:
- Carbon Monoxide (CO) Analyzer: Measures the CO levels in your home and heating equipment.
- Blower Door: Measures the tightness of a home and helps identify where infiltration is present.
- Duct Blaster: Measures how leaky your ductwork is.
- Thermal Imaging Camera: Allows you to see heat transfer through the walls, helps to see where infiltration is entering your home.

Geothermal Heat Pumps Tax Credit
In 2026, Geothermal remains the most incentivized heating and cooling technology in New York. By combining federal, state, and utility programs, homeowners can often cover over 50% of the total cost of the system.
2026 Savings Breakdown:
-
Federal Tax Credit: 30% off the total project cost—no cap.
-
NYS Tax Credit: 25% off installation, now capped at $10,000 (doubled for 2026).
-
Central Hudson Rebates: Up to $18,000 for full-home systems.
-
Utility Bonuses: Includes $1,250 for heat pump water heaters and $50 for smart thermostats.
Why Choose Geothermal? It is the most efficient HVAC system on the market, offering the lowest monthly bills and the highest increase to your home's resale value. With traditional gas rebates gone, Geothermal is the "gold standard" for energy independence.
